The Words: Not for Blank Minds

The Words is a film for the few enthusiastic and literary viewers around.  It does not possess the qualities of a popular flick. This is not a movie for blank minds, belly laughs, or temporary escape. The Words pays homage to heavier films such as Atonement or Inception.

Parting Words from the Outgoing Editor-in-Chief

Though it saddens me to have to leave The Prodigy, it makes me happy to be able to send it off as a bigger and stronger service for UC Merced. We have a great website, stocked newsroom, board meetings, writer meetings, photography staff, social events, banquets, and more release dates for our issues to be published. But even with all those accomplishments I can’t help but reminisce about the times when all we had was each other.

The Lucky One: Nicholas Sparks Strikes Romance Again

It’s fair to say that Nicholas Sparks is the master of the romance novel. The writer sure knows how to lay it on thick. The film adaptation of The Lucky One is no exception to the Sparks form: the love that shouldn’t happen (but does), the secrets, and the drama in between.  All the stops have been pulled out for this one: the recovering marine, the careful woman, the sensitive little boy, the loyal dog, etc.
