Graduation is an inseparable and ancient part of the education process. It has its own set of rituals and traditions, one of which is the graduation dinner. Finding a suitable restaurant in Merced can be difficult, but there is at least one acceptable establishment: the Branding Iron, a western-themed steak house. Located on 16th Street between M and N, it fits the bill fairly nicely, provided that one is interested in eating large amounts of American-style meat courses.

On the rainy Thursday night of April 12, the Trevor Project and the Social Justice Programs collaborated to provide UCM students with a sequence of informational events to raise awareness of the LGBT community. 

On the rainy Thursday night of April 12, the Trevor Project and the Social Justice Programs collaborated to provide UCM students with a sequence of informational events to raise awareness of the LGBT community.

The Trevor Project is an organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBT youth.

The event began around 6:30 p.m. with lifeguard training, followed by a short film and ending with the candlelight vigil.

On March 15, Dr. Kwame Anthony Appiah visited campus and spoke in a lecture entitled “For the Humanities”, held in the California Room. The room was filled with professors, community members, and students alike.

The host of the event noted that Appiah would be the first speaker for an annual “Distinguished Speaker Series” at UC Merced. The lecture series is sponsored byUC Merced's Center for Research in the Humanities and Arts, along with the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts.

You would not think something as simple as diapers would provide a source of tension within families. Well, Professor Patti LiWang wants you to think again.

“Oh, it causes a lot of tension. Toddlers who are not ready to be potty-trained are forced to learn so money can be saved on diapers,” explained LiWang. “In California weather, I can’t imagine a toddler having to wear a wet diaper in the heat.”
