UCM Sustainability Earns LEED Gold Rating

UC Merced has received another LEED Gold rating, as well as earned a spot on the Top Ten Green Projects from the American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment for its 2009 Long Range Development Plan. 

UC Merced has received another LEED Gold rating, as well as earned a spot on the Top Ten Green Projects from the American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment for its 2009 Long Range Development Plan.

The campus’s building plans use sustainable construction materials and take advantage of open space, land use, circulation and water resources, while making various campus locations look like the surrounding areas of the Central Valley.

Merced County Office of Education Inaugurates First Sustainable, Prefab Campus

Last month, Merced County Office of Education revealed the results of a six month long project involving the construction of a new high school campus for the Atwater Community Day School.  The 22,000 square foot campus opened its doors to 200 high school students and 30 sixth-through eighth graders the week of September 12.  It is the first “Gen7” campus installed under the Merced County Office of Education.

Social Sciences and Management Building

After years of anticipation, the new Social Sciences and Management (SS&M) building will open to students and faculty in time for the start of the Fall 2011 semester. The 3-story structure will be the first academic building completed since UC Merced officially opened in 2005.
